After the first two GPs of the 1954 F.1 world championship with Maserati, the Argentine Juan-Manuel Fangio moved to Mercedes with which he continued his streak of successes. Virtually unbeatable that year, Fangio won six Grands Prix, including the French one, held in Reims, the race of his debut in the Championship with Mercedes.
