After a few fairly interlocutory seasons, Ferrari showed up for the 1974 world championship. With the new 312 B3 and two competitive drivers such as Niki Lauda and Clay Regazzoni, Maranello's team had everything it takes to compete with the best British teams. During the season, however, Ferrari missed the opportunity to properly support its best-placed driver, Regazzoni; Emerson Fittipaldi took advantage of it and with McLaren-Cosworth he was always very regular and in the last race at Watkins Glen he managed to earn the three points he needed to secure the world title. That year Fittipaldi won in Brazil, Belgium and in Canada. McLaren became the manufacturer world champion, ahead of Ferrari, Tyrrell, Lotus and Brabham.
