The Lincoln Continental remains the masterpiece of Edsel Ford and Bob Gregoire, a car influenced by the work of the great European bodyworks, which has become the archetype of the cars that were defined as "personal luxury cars". The first phase of this generation of the Continental was produced from 1940 to 1941; the second took over in 1942 and production was resumed after the war and until 1948. Built in the Coupé and Cabriolet configurations, the Continental was equipped with V12 engines, first 4785cc, then 4998cc.
