The Group A version of the Delta Integrale 16V represented a clear step forward compared to the already successful Integrale 8V. Thanks to this car, Lancia won three constructors 'world titles and two drivers' titles with Biasion and Kankkunen between 1989 and 1991. Homologated in October 1989, it made its victorious debut at Sanremo a few days later. The engine developed a maximum power of 295 horsepower at 7,000 rpm.
