Directly derived from the Beetle, the 1500 was presented in 1961. It was a 2-door sedan (also available as a station wagon), equipped with the 1493cc engine. Designed to be more modern and rational than the Beetle, it was nevertheless less successful, never supplanting the whole car from which it derived. The 1500 went out of production in 1965.
