The III Series of the Alfa Romeo Spider made its debut at the 1983 Geneva Motor Show, thus replacing the "truncated tail". The mechanics did not undergo any change, except for the 2.0 which received an electronic injection. More substantial were the changes to the bodywork, completely revised and full of additional plastic elements. The tail received a pronounced spoiler. In 1986 a slight facelift was conducted and it was then that the 2.0 Quadrifoglio Verde version was also presented. In 1990 the III Series gave way to the IV and last series, after about 34,000 units produced.
