In September 1985 the Porsche 924 received the 944 engine and took the name 924S. The engine, compared to that of the 944, was slightly de-powered (from 163 to 150 horses). The wheels were fitted with 195/65 VR15 tires. In 1988 the power went to 160 horses. The 924S remains a rather rare car and highly appreciated by collectors.
