Back in the 80s, the Alpinas were already amongst the most interesting saloons with performances second to none. The BMW Series E28 gave a good basis for Alpina versions. In 1985 the B9 received the engine from the Series 3-derived B6 3.5 and the name was changed to B10 3.5. The engine produced 261 bhp (254 with catalyst) and of course the performances were more than adequate: from 0 to 100 km/h in 6”4 and a top speed of 250 kph.
