Already in 1971, one year after its presentation, the Citroen SM was offered in a series of special variants, the work of body builders who gravitated more or less directly around the brand. If Chapron introduced an SM convertible named Mylord, Heuliez came out with a Targa-style car, the Espace equipped with half-roofs with an ingenious system of aluminum slats that folded into the center. The SM Espace was produced in about ten units.
