The 2600 RS version of the Ford Capri deserves a separate chapter in the history of the German coupe. While the standard versions had to settle for a rather weak V4, the 2600 RS was quite another animal, with a 2550cc 6-cylinder engine giving no less than 150 hp. With its matte black hood that discreetly underlined the sporting vocation, the Capri RS had a good success among the young audience and remained in production from 1970 to 1973. Homologated in Group 2, the car also had a remarkable racing career especially on track, with important wins in the European Touring Car Championship.
