In 1972 the Fiat 124 Sport Coupé underwent a substantial restyling, which mainly concerned - in terms of bodywork - the front and rear. The driver's seat was renovated on the dashboard, receiving among other things a new steering wheel with two perforated spokes. The previous 1400 and 1600cc versions were replaced by the new 1600 and 1800cc, with engines derived from those of the 132, twin camshaft and single carburettors. The 1600 (1592cc, 104hp at 6000 rpm) could reach a maximum speed of 180 km/h, while the 1800 (1756cc, 114hp at 6000 rpm) reached 185 km/h. Both versions could be equipped with a 5-speed gearbox upon request. The 124 Sport Coupé III Series went out of production in 1975.
