Due to the reinforcement of the American anti-pollution standards, Nissan decided to increase the engine to 2.6 liters for its 2.4 engine combined with a reduction in power to 126 horsepower. From 1975 the Datsun 260Z entered production, an appreciated sports car that was marketed in the two-seater version or in the 2 + 2 configuration, the latter with a longer wheelbase. The 260Z remained a production until 1979.
