After about twenty years of existence, the DS was still at the forefront and remained a point of reference. Despite this, Citroen developed a new end-of-career version, which debuted in 1973 as the DS23. The displacement of the last of the DS rose to 2347cc; the car was available in carburettor version (115 horsepower) or injection (130 horsepower). On April 23, 1975, the latest DS came out of the Citroen factory, a "23" injection in Delta blue. Total production of the DS had reached 1,330,755 units.
