The first series Ford Fiesta also had some sporty versions. After the 1.3 Super Sport, in production in 1981-1982, production of the XR2, with 84 horsepower engine (1982-1983), began. The car enjoyed good success and was also used in rallies. Further development of the engine reached 96 horsepower (1984-1989); the XR2 then gave way to the 1989 XR2i, already based on the second series of the Fiesta.
