The Golf Cabriolet was renewed less frequently than the sedan; the Cabrio I series remained in production until 1993, the next series, based on the III series, was produced until 2003, (starting from 1998 it received the front end and the dashboard of the Golf IV). The III series Cabrio was equipped with various engines, from 75, 90, 100 and 115 horsepower. Particularly sought after today are the special finishes, such as the Avantgarde (1994-1998) and the Carat (1998-2003).
