NOREV - PEUGEOT - 205 GL 1988

The 205 was the car that revived the fortunes of Peugeot in the 1980s. Presented in 1983, the car remained in production until 1999, produced in a considerable number of versions, with three and five-door bodywork, to which convertibles were added. If the GTI with 1.6 and 1.9 engines deserves a separate story, the "normal" 205 remains one of the best-selling small cars of its period. Initially four engines were planned for the non-sports range: 954cc, 1124cc, 1360cc, followed later by the 1769cc XUD7 diesel. In 1987 the X-series engines were replaced by the TUs, with similar displacements. In 1993, the XS, GT and Automatica adopted the 1580cc engine. The 205 was sold in 5,275,472 units, a record number for Peugeot, which would only be beaten in 2005 with the 206.
