In the summer of 1965 a new Renault appeared on the market. It was the R10, which replaced the R8 Major and which aimed to fill the gap between the R16 and the R8. The R10 remained very close to the R8, of which it shared the platform and much of the bodywork (the front and rear were different). The passenger compartment was no longer spacious but was better finished and cared for than that of the R8.
