The 144S was the more powerful version of the 144. Like the standard 144, the S went into production in 1966 with the 1778cc engine boosted from 85 to 115 horsepower. In 1968 the new 118 horsepower 4-cylinder 1985cc was introduced. In 1971 an injection version was also presented, called 144GL. The 144S went out of production in 1974, along with the normal 144.
