С учётом НДС €30.55 Porsche's and Audi's retirment from WEC at the end of 2017 left space to Toyota, that clinched a 2018 Le Mans win after years of efforts, becoming the second Japanese make to win at the 24 Hours race after Mazda in 1991. The 2019 edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours saw again the dominance of the Toyota TS050 entered by Gazoo Racing. It took a little bit of chance for Alonso / Nakajima / Buemi to beat the sister car driven by Conway / Kobayashi / Lopez, who had been in control of the race but were forced to give up the race victory due to an incorrect wired antenna in the tyre pressure sensor system.
