The MS9 was a test bed, which was raced only once. The 1968 MS9 had a modified MS7 chassis and suspension derived from the sports prototype. The engine was the Cosworth DFV, for which Ken Tyrrell had adapted the chassis. Stewart was entered in the South African GP qualifying in the front line and on that occasion the MS9 showed good potential before the engine failed.
