The old BT3 was used by the Brabham team at the start of the 1963 season, waiting for the new BT7 chassis to be ready for both drivers, Jack Brabham and Dan Gurney. Brabham used the BT3 obtaining the first two F1 victories of the team, in Solitude and Zeltweg, races not valid for the world championship. The BT3 met again in the championship at Monza, where Brabham finished fifth.
