The Matra MS80 was the car that allowed Jackie Stewart to win his first Formula 1 world title. In 1968 Matra had deployed two cars, one with their own engine for Beltoise, the other with a Cosworth for Stewart. For 1969 Bernard Boyer designed a new chassis and both cars had the Cosworth engine. For Stewart it was an exceptional year; the Scottish driver scored 63 points against Ickx's 37, second.
