TOPMARQUES - RENAULT - R20 N 150 WINNER RALLY PARIS DAKAR 1982 C.MARREAU - B.MARREAU

The name of the brothers Claude and Bernard Marreau is closely linked to the Paris-Dakar. In 1978 they had entered a Renault R4 Sinpar with the R5 TS engine. In 1979 the Marreau returned to the race with an R4L with the goddess R5 Alpine engine. These experiences were useful for the development, in 1980, of a special all-wheel drive Renault 20, equipped with the engine of the R18 Turbo and the rear axle of the Trafic van. Renault became interested in the project and provided the Marreaus with an official assistance vehicle. It was in 1982 that the Marreaus entered two Renault 20 prototypes, one for themselves and the other for assistance, managing to win the race. Later they continued to participate in the Dakar with various other cars (including a special R18).
