While Lola developed the T282 for the 3-liter class in 1973, the T292, an improved version of the 1973 T290, was proposed for the 2000cc class. The T292 won the 2-liter European Championship in 1973, winning 4 out of 8 races (two with Chris Craft, two with Guy Edwards), with a reasonable margin of advantage over rival Chevron. In the following years, the T292s continued to be used by numerous private teams in various championships, with Ford Cosworth, Simca Chrysler engines and so on.
