The 1977 Lola T297 Group 6 featured few evolutions compared to the T296 of the previous year, apart from some small adaptations to the suspension and rear hubs and gearbox supports. Some modifications were made by Specialized Moldings to the rear hood, but distinguishing a T297 from a T296 remains quite difficult. Four rolling chassis examples of the T296 were built.
This Lola T297 powered by a BMW 2 litres unit, was entered in the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans by Dominique Lacaud. Piloted by Lacaud himself with Michel Lateste and Jean-François Auboiron, it was not classified due to insufficient distance travelled.
The Portuguese company Troféu has been producing model cars since 1990. The company specializes in precisely reproduced 1:43 rally cars. Diecast was followed by plastic production and recently Trofeu introduced the DSN range, made up of models printed directly in 3D. The range features many Le Mans cars, both well-known and less well-known, which have been highly appreciated by specialists in the sector.
