In 1978 Lola introduced the T298 model, an evolution of the 1977 T297. There were 17 examples built by the Huntington company, with some differences in the arrangement of the rollbar: the first examples had a structure similar to that of the T296 and starting from the HU104 chassis or HU106 rollbar featured a different design. At chassis level, the front bulkhead was reinforced and other elements were updated according to the dictates of Annex J of the technical regulations. The rear bonnet and the side panels of the bodywork were also slightly modified compared to the T297.
This Lola T298 powered by Simca-ROC 1994cc, was entered in the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans by Jean-Marie Lemerle. Driven by Lemerle himself with Alain Levie and Jean-Pierre Malcher, the car had to retire in the 20th hour due to clutch failure.
The Portuguese company Troféu has been producing model cars since 1990. The company specializes in precisely reproduced 1:43 rally cars. Diecast was followed by plastic production and recently Trofeu introduced the DSN range, made up of models printed directly in 3D. The range features many Le Mans cars, both well-known and less well-known, which have been highly appreciated by specialists in the sector.
