In early 1987 the Sierra range was restyled and welcomed a new notchback variant, christened Sapphire in the UK. In 1988 the Cosworth engine already mounted on the 3-door passed on the 3-volume, which becomes Sierra Cosworth. Performance was impressive, at the level, for example, of a Porsche 944. In 1990, all-wheel drive arrived; the power of the 4x4 reached 220 horsepower. The Sierra Cosworth was produced until 1993 in 20250 units, of which 9250 with four-wheel drive.
