The coupé version of the Mercedes 220S was presented a year after the sedan, in 1956. The convertible was also marketed together. This completed the W180 range, equipped with 2195cc 6-cylinder engines. In 1958 the series was replaced by the W128, with the 220SE, also marketed as a coupé. These luxury models were marketed until 1961.
