Apart from the S2 with a 220 horsepower engine, the B3 generation of the Audi Coupes had a more touristic than sporty approach. The 2.2-liter 10- or 20-valve engines (136 and 170 horsepower respectively) focused heavily on smooth running. The chassis was excellent, especially in the four-wheel drive versions. In 1990 a 133-horsepower 2.3-liter engine was introduced, but there was no lack of cheaper versions, albeit far from exciting, such as the 2.0E with 115 horsepower. The B3 remained in production from 1989 to 1991. In 1992 the B4 was introduced, of which the 2.8E, produced until 1996, is well appreciated by collectors.
