Marketed since 1986, the BMW 7 Series E32 replaced the E23 from 1977-1986. The second generation of the 7 Series relied heavily on prestige and technology to rival the Mercedes S and Jaguar XJ on equal terms. The line was very agile and the car was 11 cm longer than the E23. If the 735i had the proven 218 horsepower 6-cylinder in-line engine, those looking for even more performance could choose between V8 and V12. The E32 remained in production until 1994.
