2003 was the last year for the Audi TT-R DTM; the 2002 season ended with the title victory for Laurent Aiello, but it was immediately clear that the following year Audi would not be able to face the competition from Mercedes and Opel. The pilots for 2003 were Christian Abt, Laurent Aiello, Mattias Ekstrom, Peter Terting, Martin Tomczyk and Karl Wendlinger. In the end, the best placed was Ekstrom, fourth in the overall standings, while Aiello took the only success of the season, at the Nurburgring.
