The eighteenth edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which took place on 24 and 25 June 1950 saw the historic double win of the Talbot-Lago, which managed to get the better of a pack of fierce competitors: Jaguar, Aston Martin, Cadillac and of course Ferrari, the winning make of the previous year. Great drivers discovered the 24 Hours in 1950: Fangio, Trintignant, Behra… The victory of Talbot Lago number 5, driven by Louis Rosier and his son Jean-Louis, is linked to a sort of enigma. It is said that Louis left the wheel to his son for only a couple of laps, just to rest a bit. This was later denied several years later by Jean-Louis himself, who claimed to have driven at least two full shifts.
