Peter Collins’ and Peter Wright’s attempts to re-establish Lotus in 1994 were unsuccessful and at the end of the season the British team left Formula 1 after a long history. For 1994, after the agreement with the Ford Cosworth expired, Lotus obtained the rather old but powerful Mugen V10 engine. Several drivers took turns driving Lotus in 1994: Zanardi, Herbert, Adams, Bernard, Salo but none managed to obtain significant results due to the car's poor competitiveness, which also came late, replacing the 107C mid-season.
