The Shadow DN7 remained a short-lived project, although the team was convinced of its potential. The DN7 was built to house the 12-cylinder Matra, which provided more power than the Cosworth V8. The car made its debut at the 1975 Austrian GP with Jarier and showed good skills in the few races it took part in, especially in fast circuits such as the Osterreichring or Monza. Matra's decision to supply engines exclusively to Ligier in 1976 ended this program.
