In 1972 BRM introduced the P180, based on the concept of the P160. The author of these cars was the brilliant designer Tony Southgate. The P180, however, was not a too effective single-seater, due to an incorrect weight distribution, excessively loaded on the rear. The car did not achieve great results, except for a victory in a minor race at the end of the season.
