Designed by Eric Broadley in collaboration with Andrew Thorby and Max Sardou's studio, the Lola T600 was introduced in early 1981 as a GTP for the IMSA championship. In Group 6 configuration, however, it was also used in Europe, with the Cosworth engine, while the American teams mainly mounted the 5.7-liter Chevrolet V8. The Group 6 version of the T600 debuted with a Cosworth 3000 engine and then moved on to the 3300 displacement. In the following years the T600 continued to race in the IMSA, while for Europe Lola developed the T610, which debuted in Group C in 1982.
