In 1966 Lotus launched a sports car with original ultra-flat lines, only 1.13 meters high and with central engine: the Europa. The engine was derived from that of the Renault 16, a 1470cc 4-cylinder delivering 78 HP on the Lotus. Combined with a fiberglass body, the small unit allowed the car to reach 200 km / h. The Europa remained in production from 1967 to 1975 and also had some competitive use.
